Sean and KKMI

I've had a good photography week! I got to reconnect with my old friend, and one of my favorite models Sean Mirkovich. Sean is studying acting and needed some head-shots, and I was happy for the opportunity. We went to an ultra secret location near Pheonix Lake for the shoot.

Sean is so easy in front of the camera, as he has both acting and directing experience. It makes a big difference to shoot somebody who isn't afraid of the camera. Sean and I go way back, these two black and whites were shot in 2008 for my BFA Thesis.

We didn't stray far from our normal routine. As soon as we were done with the serious stuff, Sean busted   this ridiculous getup out of his bag. It was just like old times as we played around with this crazy character. Thanks Sean!

Also Seti, the lovely dog I'm caring for made an appearance.

I also had a fun opportunity to hop in a crane and shoot my dad's boatyard KKMI from 60ft in the air!

It was a beautiful morning at the Sausalito yard, we got really lucky because the past few days it's been foggy.

The shoot was for a new PR campaign, here my dad and his partner in crime are shot from above.

I also took the opportunity to sneak up on this guy who was working on sanding down the hull of this yacht, preparing it for painting. The lighting was nicely softened by a translucent plastic used to contain the dust.

Regenerative Design Institute Workshop

This weekend I had a great opportunity go help Rebecca Burgess out at her Fibershed workshop. The event took place at the Regenerative Design Institute in Bolinas, a learning center based upon permaculture principles.

Rebecca was teaching these wonderful folks how to dye with plants, as well as a new natural ink proces that can be used for silk screens and prints!

Dye ink goo!

A perfect silk screen final product.
